ICT technologies have brought drastic changes in different industries including education. Though the use of technology has existed in education, its usage has not been as popular as it has been during the COVID-19 pandemic period. This novel COVID-19 pandemic presents distressing effects worldwide for health and all spheres of life including the economy, social security and education among others, encompassing profound and undesirable effects on our daily lives. To this effect government through a multi-sectoral approach reaffirmed its position on the need for actions to respond to COVID-19 by ensuring higher education continued offering classes during the times of closures by utilizing eLearning platforms because as it currently stands prediction as to when closures will end completely seems to be hardly possible at the moment. History teaches us that every technology must have some pioneers that drive it for it to be acceptable. In this paper, we evaluate the successes, failures and challenges of offering eLearning in the School of information Technology at Copperbelt University. A survey was conducted among students and staff to rate e-learning during the 2020/2021 academic year.
